Episode 95: A Hero’s Sacrifice! Last Chance to Save the World!

Before the episode starts, we have a small editing error in the previous episode recap. Nothing major. Just Cell throwing up some liquid…

As the episode starts, Cell is just moments away from blowing up and taking the whole planet with him. As expected, the blood on Gohans face is edited through out the whole episode…

Cell yells to Gohan…

He continues on…

As Gohan reflects on the battle, he remembers when Cell took a great amount of damage. The flashback in the TV version starts a few frames of animation in. Removing the shot of Cell’s legs.

Two odd things about this little flash back. One – Gohan’s blood is bright orange…

And two – In the TV version the flashback effect stayed on screen even after the flashback was finished…

I’m not sure how that last one could have happened.

Soon, Gohhan falls to his knees and takes in the realization that has unfolded. He says to himself…

He starts pounding the ground out of frustration and yells…

Seeing as there’s really no other choice. Goku says goodbye to his friends and uses his instant transmition to appear before Gohan and Cell. He says goodbye to his son, and using the technique one more time. This time zapping himself and Cell to King Kai’s planet where Cell explodes, saving the Earth.

There was a small amount of blood edited on Goku’s face in this scene. The edited color is so close to the color of the blood, it’s almost pointless…

As the other warriors left on Earth take in what just happened. Krillin walks over to Gohan to comfort him, but Gohan feels he’s just patronizing him and yells to Krillin…

Krillin continues to look at the glass half full and tells Gohan his Father was extremely proud of him. Meanwhile in Other World, Goku apologizes to King Kai, Bubbles, and Gregory for killing them. As they float on, Goku tells King Kai that he doesn’t see Cell anywhere, he continues…

King Kai panics and tells Goku that no matter who you are, when you die you must pass by King Yemma’s place. He then realizes this could only mean one thing…

Back on Earth, it seems Cell actually is alive. Cell fires a blind shot at the group of warriors and hits Trunks. A few frames of animation were edited out so that it doesn’t show the beam actually penetrating Trunks…

As Trunks flys back, the TV version added more smoke to cover up the hole in Trunks’ chest…

When Trunks hits the floor, he bounces and a small amount of blood splashes out. This was edited out of the TV version…

Back in Other World, Goku still can’t belive King Kai is right about Cell being alive and yells to him…

As Trunks lays on the floor, Yamcha runs over to check on him and declares him dead. This along with Vegeta looking on at his dead son was cut out…

With the death of Trunks. Vegeta becomes enraged and starts firing rapidly at Cell. But it was for nothing as Cell has taken no damage at all and smacks Vegeta to the ground. Cell then tries to finish Vegeta off with a blast but Gohan jumps in taking the blast, saving Vegeta. Gohan’s arm was now damaged beyond use. This was heavily edited in the TV version. Instead of just re-coloring the blood like they usually do, most of the blood on Gohan’s arm was actually removed all together – as well as some dripping blood.

As the camera looks over at Vegeta and Trunks there are minor blood edits here…

The episode ends soon after.
