There are a lot of crazy edits in this episode, the first one comes a few moments into the episode. Piccolo starts shooting a bunch of energy attacks at Android 17. For some odd reason they decided to edit out about 16 seconds of Piccolo shooting energy attacks and Android 17 dodging them…
Piccolo then steps back onto a rock and starts shooting like crazy again. And once again a few seconds were edited out of Piccolo blasting and Android 17 dodging. I don’t get it!
Android 17 realizes Piccolo never was trying to hit him. The android turns around to see all the energy blast lingering in the air behind him. Piccolo makes them all home in on the android and yells…
With the island they were fighting on completely destroyed. They head to another island to continue their fight. The android goes on the attack and seems to now have the upper hand. Most of the androids attacks were edited out from this scene for the TV version…
After the attack, Piccolo cracks his neck and spits some blood out. This was, of course, edited in the TV version…
Then goes on to tell the android…
The two go at it once again, there is a flash edit on one of Android 17’s punches to Piccolo’s face…
As the two continue to attack, there is another few seconds omitted. Again, I’m not sure why this was taken out, it’s mostly just blocking and no real connecting hits…
Meanwhile at Kame House, Krillin feels their energy and says to himself…
Tien, feeling helpless standing on the sidelines says…
Krillin then feels Cell’s energy closing in. Now that Piccolo and Android 17 are putting out a lot of energy it has drawn the attention of Cell. Yamcha says…
Meanwhile back on the battlefield. Android 17 and Piccolo continue to go at it. There is another few seconds removed here where Piccolo blast 17, then bashes him on top of his head into the water. In the TV version it made it seem like Piccolo punched 17 into the water but they just edited to make it look that way…
Back at Kame House. Roshi goes on to tell the others they better think of something fast, cause if Cell absorbs those androids it’s all over, then goes on to say…
Elsewhere, at Kami’s Lookout. Goku and Gohan feel Cell’s energy closing in on where Piccolo and Android 17 are. Goku, feeling helpless says…
Meanwhile, Piccolo and Android 17 are still going at it, unaware that Cell is quickly approaching. Here we have the biggest chunk of footage removal in the TV version yet! The two are just attacking each other like crazy, some are brutal, some aren’t that bad. I guess they figured it would be easier to get rid of most of the scene rather then chop it up and create more work for themselves.
After the barrage of attacks the both are a little bloody (or oily?) and so, of course, it’s edited in the TV version…
As Piccolo catches his breath, he looks over and see’s Cell! The episode ends a few moments later.
